GODOLOGY, WEEK 3

Ok, I admit it is my fault that we are behind on this reading project. My apologies to all of you guys and I will make sure we are up do date on these posts from here on out. So chapter 3 is focused on God’s creativity. I found it interesting that George wrote “our planet is the comedy club for our solar system.” I would add the entire universe! But the point of this chapter is to remind us that this God who is powerful and sovereign is also creative. His imagination is so great and complex that there are things that we just aren’t going to figure out … ever. That is why eternity is so long (unending): because that is how long it will take us to figure out the creative mysteries of God. But this should lead us to worship, not frustration. Many of you reading this are talented; I see it, and I am amazed by it honestly. But who gave that talent to you? The answer to that question defines who you should use your abilities to honor. Some of you are talented in art, music, sports, media, and other things. Use those things for God, so He might be seen and heard and loved by everybody you encounter in life!

Question For Reflection: How should we respond to God’s creativity in our lives?

  1. God is amazing. I now look at nature and see that God created everything, even a little piece of grass. It is also amazing that he can create us and that our bodies know exactly what to do. I think it is cool that when we die our atoms go and be another atom for something else.

  2. I love it how this chapter starts out with listing just random things that wouldn’t make sense and have nothing in common; except for one thing: God made them.

But, to answer the question for reflection: we need to take what gifts we’re given and use them for the Lord. The ball-players should play their hearts out and act according to Christ; musicians should use their instruments as instruments of praise; singers should lift their voices so that God will hear them. God’s done incredibly creative things in people’s lives–mine included–and we should honor Him for that creativity.

  3. As I am reading the first part of the chapter, I realize that some things in life shouldn’t be left for us to figure out, or wrap our minds around. An example would be knowing the future. This may be very helpful to us, but I think God had a reason for us not to have the ability. If we knew the future, life would be boring at points, and depressingly as it sounds you would spend your life knowing when your going to die, and there is tons of more examples also. Something else well never figure, is girls, LOL just kidding.
The re-creation point, really relates because some things in life are re-created like the cells in our body, or like Christian we are re-birthed in Christ.
Also Christian makes a good point about the textured life. A lot of people today don’t even worship God in person. The sit at home and just sit there and watch. Jesus did not show up as a TV. He came in real person, and for the people that are physically able to, they should come to Church.

  4. I really liked this chapter. It is really neat how our bodies regenerate themselves every seven years and how our cells are constantly being recycled.

  5. This chapter was good. I think it’s cool how everything that we see–the mountains, oceans, animals, flowers, the beautiful colors–all came to be just through God speaking. That’s impossible to conceive in my mind. It’s just awesome that our God is really THAT powerful.
