GODOLOGY, WEEK 2

Jesus ninja. That title alone was worth the cost of the book, especially since I am the only one who paid anything for it! While this chapter’s title is definetley creative, it is also precisely on point. When we think about God’s power our thoughts are often entirely too weak. God is only as strong as we can imagine, or feel, or hope; yet this God, the true and living God, is powerful beyond any of our imaginations. George puts it like this: “Sometimes we want a housebroken God, a domesticated deity … But God is wilder than that, and harier too. He’s not the clean-shaven gentleman we pretend he is.” Most christians today have never meditated on the untamable power of our God. How do I know you ask? Because we would be face-down in awe and worship if we ever caught even the faintest grasp of Him! But we need that, don’t we?

Question for Reflection: What do you do in your everyday walk through the world that lets people know that you walk with Christ? Can people tell there is something different about you?

  1. I think Christian brought up a good point in this chapter, that we should not try to cover up that we are Christians. Of course it would have been embarrasing, but I would have tried to make the best of that situation. I would have tried to mimic the classy gangstas and jumped up and down in my car to create “hydrolics”. Course I would have been chased down and beaten, but that just adds to the fun.
This chapter is a great chapter that gives us a glint of an idea. The idea that no one can even get close to the thought of how big and powerful God is. Just think about snowflakes since its still winter. Have you ever noticed the structure of it? What about how every snowflake is different? No man alive, or even dead at that matter, could create a device to make snowflakes of different designs.
Our DNA is another good example. This organized design brings wonder to our scientific world. Only God could have pulled of something this great.
I have to admit, the title was a great one and makes me want to read more to find out what these other titles mean. Definitely appeals to teens.

  2. I think a good also in this chapter is an example Mac brought up, when he pulled into the gas station and got made fun. People today put on mask so other people wont see who that real person is. If your proud of something, then you should stand up for. Im getting lost in the chapters of this book, Im trying my best to understand it more.

  3. That was a good chapter. It gave me courage

  4. We shouldn’t be ashamed of God. We should want to show others that we are Christians. Who cares if we get made fun of. Don’t be two people. Don’t come to church be like ” oh God I love you, I love you” and as soon as you leave put a the mask and become an entirely different person just so that your friends will think you’re ‘cool’. Be God’s 100% of the time. Be proud to be a Christian.

  5. This chapter was like a slap in the face, especially to our generation today, and most definitely including myself. Being a Christian is not an act, nor is it just a title to impress people from church or whatever. It’s all about being as close to God as possible, and experiencing his love so deeply that you would never even want to cover up the fact that you are God’s. Yeah, this applies to things outside of church, too. Instead of being two-faced, we should let God make us a whole brand new singular face, living for God.
